Barge activities
In 2004 PortConnect introduced a new regular shuttle-service to inland depots in Belgium. Also high and heavy machinery and out of gauge cargo is carried from/to Zeebrugge on our barges.
In 2008 M/V Deseo joined the fleet as our first estuary container barge. She carries 400 TEU or 5.000 tonnes.
Medio 2008 M/V Deseo was joined by her sister M/V Tripoli.
With a cellular design and 100 reefer plugs the estuary barges will make transport competitive in time and speed, taking only eight hours between Zeebrugge and Antwerp.
